Because otherwise there will be no players to play either mode (or specially ranked battles) because of the low pop in quite frequent times of the day, specially in deep night and dawn. The only disadvantage of this method I see is that the company's new ideas for modes (Rampage mode, Historical mode, etc etc) have flopped, and I doubt the company is willing to do this out of fear of repeating history. I wasn't the first to suggest this idea random people at random intervals over time have suggested this in Grand Battle threads over at Gameplay or Serious discussion. However, the low server population of the SEA, relative to EU, RU and even NA, prevents the algorithm from working properly to assign Grand Battles, leading to users reporting the total lack of grand battles after a few hundred games. Theoretically 10-20% of a person's random battles should be grand battles. Grand Battles have been out since 9.20, which was quite a while back. Okay, hamminess aside, the suggestion's heart is simple: Make Grand Battles a separate mode, not just a type of random battles.
